About Max


Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Max Chernov began his career in visual arts, becoming a national gold medalist at the 87th Scholastic Art and Writing Award, and winner at the Communication Arts Photography Annual.

Max’s work is showcased in galleries across the country, such as Armory Center for the Arts and Parsons The New School for Design, as well as published in multiple annuals, publications, and the Library of Congress. He is also featured in a “One Water” campaign for a Los Angeles based charity, LA Waterkeeper.

Attending USC School of Cinematic Arts, Max wrote, directed, and produced numerous short films. Over the years, Max has worked at Skydance ProductionsWalt Disney Studios, and Bad Robot Productions, where he assisted the BTS editorial team for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION.

Max independently produced BLOOD BROTHERS, a World War I short film which he wrote and directed. In an effort to depict 1916 France, the 100+ crew shot in Santa Clarita, CA. His project brought together many leading industry players during production (Keslow CameraChapman LeonardPaskal Lighting, and ProCam) and in post-production (Skywalker Sound, Rock Paper ScissorsA52, and Remote Control Productions).

BLOOD BROTHERS most recently became an official selection at the Academy Awards-Qualifying and BAFTA-accredited Los Angeles Shorts International Film Festival, the Academy Awards-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival, and the Braunschweig International Film Festival.

Currently, he is adapting a true crime, non-fiction book by a Pulitzer Prize-Winning author and working with the writers’ room on ABC’s A MILLION LITTLE THINGS.
